WWE RAWtrospective 12/4/17: Awakening!

With “The Bar” backed against a wall, would Ambrose and Rollins prevail, taking home the tag titles for the Hounds Of Justice?

Monday Night Raw is LIVE from the fabled Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on 12/4/17!

The Highs:

Open Challenge

A tip of the hat to start the night out for both Jason Jordan and Roman Reigns.

The IC Champ laid out the challenge foy anyone to take over his yard and Jordan was up to the task.

Samoa Joe took issue with Jordan trying to get involved with the title picture, but before Joe could take Reigns to task, Jordan suplexed Reigns and the match was on!

After a fine outing from both men, Jordan was put away with a spear and Reigns walked away with a victory.

Joe looked to attack after the match, but Reigns thwarted the effort and taught Jordan a needed lesson by ousting him with a superman punch to humble the rookie, a great opening segment.

Absolution

Paige comes back to in-ring action with a victory over Sasha Banks.

A tremendous contest between both ladies and after distractions from Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, a Rampaige ended the night for “The Boss”.

Paige and her fellow ladies look positively dominant since her return.

Powerpoint Power!

Drew Gulak walks away from a fatal four-way match with a victory tonight as he bests Mustafi Ali, Tony Nese and Cedric Alexander.

Gulak will meet Rich Swann next week and the winner gets Enzo the week after.

Will Gulak ride this wave of recent momentum into a clash with the leader of the “Zo Train” and the current Cruiserweight Champion in Enzo Amore? We shall soon see.

Empress Rising

Asuka continues to dominate and this recent booking has been a thing of beauty.

The “Empress Of Tomorrow” handled Alicia Fox with a flurry of kicks and a submission victory following the Asuka Lock.

Following the bout, she was circled once again by the vultures that would be Absolution, but they showed respect as Asuka walked away without incident.

Alicia Fox wasn’t as lucky as Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville laid siege to Foxxy and sent a message to the Raw women’s division once again by attacking the veteran.

Awakening

Matt Hardy is officially “Awoken” and it’s a thing of beauty. The segment is something to enjoy as he gets to sink his teeth into a feud with Bray Wyatt which is going to be something fantastic.

The “Eater Of Worlds” and Hardy entertained fans with their enigmatic personas and the crowd ate it up. Two thumbs up for sure!

Raising The Bar

A tremendous tag team title affair ended the night. A DQ victory was initially awarded to Ambrose and Rollins, which left the crowd wanting more.

General Manager Kurt Angle obliged and despite help from the IC Champ, Roman Reigns, “The Bar” was able to retain after another distraction, in the form of Samoa Joe.

Sheamus nails a Brogue Kick on Ambrose and Cesaro covers for the victory.

Story lines continue and we have an action heavy Raw ending on a solid note.

The Lows:

Drifting Nowhere

Elias attempted to entertain live fans under he was interrupted by “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman.

Before these two rising stars could truly have at it, “The Demon” Kane and Braun Strowman continued their rivalry, setting up a potential Pay Per View clash.

This wasn’t bad per say, it just didn’t really accomplish much outside of continuing the story between Kane and Strowman.

The ‘Meh”:

Balor Club

Finn Balor picked up a needed victory over Bo Dallas and while this was all fine and good, getting Balor back on track, unless it leads to a title match down the line, it didn’t serve much of a purpose here tonight.

Perhaps a feud with the Miz upon his return is in order?
