The luxury of having seven days off in the first six weeks of the season is that a team doesn’t need to worry about a five-man rotation if it doesn’t feel necessary. Seeing as the Tampa Bay Rays will start the year without AL saves king, Brad Boxberger, Kevin Cash felt they needed another solid arm in the bullpen to get “big outs” when called upon. That arm will be Erasmo Ramirez.

Kevin Cash announced the starting rotation as RHP Chris Archer, LHP Drew Smyly, RHP Jake Odorizzi, and LHP Matt Moore for the first full month of the season with Ramirez heading to the bullpen as a guy Cash says will get those big outs.

The final setup of the bullpen has yet to be announced but Cash has said the entire 25-man roster should be decided by Friday.
