The Pug’s Kennel Week 17: Changing Gears

Seeing how standard fantasy leagues have already crowned their champions, The Pugs Kennel is going to go in a different direction throughout the super bowl. The Pug is going to bring you your ultimate Draftkings.com line up. Daily fantasy is the way to get your fantasy fix from this point on during the season. The format is simple you get $50,000 of salary cap room to draft one QB, two RB’s, Three WR, a TE, a Flex (WR,RB, or TE) and a team defense. Having trouble picking your line up? Keep it here to earn some late season loot! Player values are based on the time article was written.

Quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick – QB New York Jets ($5,400) – Fitzpatrick has been an absolute monster as of late. During the Jets 5 game winning streak he has thrown for 1,525 yards and 13 touchdowns against 1 interception. He is a great value pick going against the Bills 23rd ranked passing defense.

Running Backs

DeAngelo Williams – RB Pittsburgh Steelers ($7,100) – Simple case of playing the match-up. The Cleveland Browns have the NFL’s worst rushing defense. Williams is having a stellar season with 899 yards and 11 touchdowns while starting in only 9 games filling in for injured Le’Veon Bell. Look for him to break the 1k mark for the season in this game by breaking 100 yards in his second straight game.

Tim Hightower – RB New Orleans Saints ($5,500) – Due to injuries and good play, Hightower has seen his playing time increase. He had a great game last Sunday pounding the rock 27 times for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 3 receptions for 47 yards.  The Falcons run defense is 16th making the match up decent. If Hightower has high volume like he has 2 of the last 3 weeks, this is a value pick.

Wide Receivers

Eric Decker – WR New York Jets ($6,500) – Decker is enjoying a productive season behind fellow wide out Brandon Marshall with 75 receptions for 977 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Bills defense has been less than stellar this year, and their pass defense is ranked 23rd in the league. Look for Buffalo to try and contain Marshall, leaving many opportunities for Decker against a weak pass defense.

Emmanuel Sanders – WR Denver Broncos ($5,800) – Ride the hot hand here, as Sanders has scored two straight weeks. The Chargers rank 10th against the pass, but Sanders is hot and attention will need to be paid to Demaryius Thomas.

Travis Benjamin – WR Cleveland Browns ($4,100) – Another value pick here, Benjamin has been hit or miss this season. He seems to put up better number at home then on the road (4 td’s at home vs. 1 on the road). This may come as a surprise, but the Steelers rank 30th against the pass so the numbers support a chance for a break out game.

Tight End

Rob Gronkowski – TE New England Patriots ($7,400) – No value bet here as Gronk is the premiere tight end in the league. Miami ranks 24th against the pass this season. Keep it short and sweet, Gronk dominates.

Flex

Gary Barnidge – TE Cleveland Browns ($4,700) – Having 977 yards on 71 receptions with 9 touchdowns on the year make Barnidge a great value pick at the flex position. Again another favorable matchup against a poor Pittsburgh pass defense as stated above. Picking two Browns…maybe I’m going crazy.

Team Defense – New England Patriots – The defending champs boast the 8th ranked defense in terms of points allowed with a +7 turnover ratio. They are playing against the Dolphins who rant 27th in terms of points scored with a -3 turnover ratio…if the shoe fits.
