Three Bucs’ Named To All-Pro Team

Three Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been named to the AP All-Pro second team.

Mike Evans, Gerald McCoy and Lavonte David were all named as All-Pro players Friday.

Wide receiver Mike Evans came into his third year focusing on his consistency in catching the ball. In 2015, Evans led the NFL in dropped passes, but came into this season with a new approach. After making the appropriate adjustments he needed to make in order to avoid dropping passes, big Mike Evans consistently was a reliable target to QB Jameis Winston.

Evans led all of football in first down receptions, and was top six in the league in touchdown catches, receptions and yards. All resulting in Evans’ first All-Pro selection. Being an All-Pro was something he had in mind the beginning of the season, he told the media that he would rather be an All-Pro selection than a Pro-Bowler after he was selected to his first Pro-Bowl earlier in the season.

Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was selected to his second All-Pro team in his seventh NFL season. With seven sacks, two forced fumbles and 34 tackles, McCoy’s leadership and awesome reputation persuaded AP voters to add him to their list. Aaron Donald and Damon Harrison were the two DT’s that got the nod over McCoy on the first-team.

The selection was quite a surprise to many Buccaneers’ fans as David’s name was not said as much as many are accustomed to hearing. The former Nebraska Cornhusker is now on his second All-Pro choice due to his great athleticism and fantastic football IQ.

David ended the 2016 campaign with 87 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles, and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Two players many believe could’ve made the list is cornerback Brent Grimes and middle linebacker Kwon Alexander. Grimes had four interceptions and 57 tackles, as Alexander led all of football in solo tackles, along with three sacks, a forced fumble, and one interception.
