From Bad to Worse: Austin Seferian-Jenkins arrested for DUI.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Austin Seferian-Jenkins. Earlier this morning Tampa Bay Times Bucs beat reporter Greg Auman reported that ASJ as he is referred to by Buccaneer fans was pulled over by the Florida Highway Patrol.

This comes in the same year as Seferian-Jenkins being removed from practice by new head coach Dirk Koetter. The new coach claimed during off-season workouts that Seferian-Jenkins did’t know what he was doing.

Seferian-Jenkins who is entering his third year in the Buccaneers system has done little to give GM Jason Licht an arguing chip as to why he drafted him in the second round in 2014. During his career with the Bucs he has only played in 18 games out of 48 possible. In his first two seasons injuries hampered his progress, but he has shown some flashes at times of being the next big tight end in the league.

This is not Seferian-Jenkins first brush with the law. MyNorthwest.com posted an article before the 2014 Draft that started with a quote from Seferian-Jenkins…

“That was an experience that I never will and never want to go through again.”

That stemmed from an arrest on March 9. 2013 while Seferian-Jenkins was in college. ASJ drove his SUV onto a sidewalk and plowed over a small tree before coming to a stop at the bottom of a park near the University of Washington.

Has the time come to cut ties with the possibly talented tight end, or do the Bucs hope this, his second DUI arrest will wake him up? Only time will tell as the Buccaneers prepare to open the newly renovated Raymond James Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. One thing is for sure the chances of ASJ dressing for this game seem to be slim to none.

UPDATE

Reports are now coming out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to release Seferian-Jenkins per Rick Stroud.
